Fall is here on the west side of Indy, and Hendricks County knows how to celebrate the season. Whether you’re chasing pumpkins, walking trails under golden leaves, or looking for cozy indoor events, there’s something for everyone.
Here’s my roundup of can’t-miss festivals, family activities, and seasonal traditions this autumn.
Fall Festivals & Events
Hope Community Church Fall Festival

Heartland Apple Festival

A Hendricks County classic: apple treats, hayrides, a corn maze, pumpkin patch fun, and more. $14/person (ages 2 and under free).
Nehemiah Ranch Fall Harvest Days
📍 Nehemiah Ranch, Avon

Free admission! Enjoy hayrides, a pumpkin patch, fire pits, hot chocolate, and s’mores.
Fall Colors Festival
📍 McCloud Nature Park, North Salem
📅 October 11th 10am-3pm
Free, family-friendly event celebrating the park's fall foliage and includes activities like live music, local vendors, 5K or 10K, hayrides, axe throwing, and the McCloud Prairie Maze.

Fall-o-ween Spooktacular
📍 W.S. Gibbs Memorial Park, Avon

Free family event with trick or treating, monster lab to create your own ghoul, face painting, vendors, moonlit hayrides ($), and more.
Doctoberfest
📍 WHO North America, Camby
📅 October 18th 10am-7pm
A free, quirky fall fest with a Doctor Who twist- costumes, games, and themed vendors.
YMCA Fall Festival
📍 Hendricks Regional Health YMCA, Avon
📅 October 24th 6:30-9pm
Free fall fest with trunk or treat, haunted hayrides, campfire, facepainting, crafts and more. Must register through the YMCA.
Halloweekend
📍 Beasley’s Orchard, Danville
📅 October 25th 9am-6pm and 26th 12pm-6pm.
All the normal fall activities plus trick or treating, kids costume contest, family pumpkin carving contest and more. Costume contest and pumpkin carving contest is at 2pm. $14/person (ages 2 and under free).

Adventurous & Spooky
📍 Indiana Fear Farm, Jamestown

If you're in the mood for thrills: this is your spot. Haunted Hayride, Slaughter Barn, actors lurking in the dark, a somewhat spooky barn (not meant for littles under 8). Not the calmest event of the season, but if you want your Halloween heart-rate up, this delivers. Don’t forget to dress in shoes you don’t mind getting dirty, and check the age-appropriateness first.

Daytime Fall Adventures: Enjoy ziplining through vibrant autumn foliage, participate in pumpkin decorating, embark on Halloween scavenger hunts, and enjoy seasonal treats like hot chocolate and apple cider. Runs September 19th through November 1st.
Frights at Height: Navigate through eerie treetops illuminated by glowsticks, encounter ghoul guides, and zipline under the moonlight for a spine-chilling adventure. Select nights September 19th through November 1st.
Forest EscAPE the Night: Test your puzzle-solving skills in this outdoor nighttime escape room experience, set against the backdrop of the haunted forest. Select nights September 19th through November 1st.
